Following suspension of business as usual the Fire Sector Federation’s Board has taken some steps to enable it to continue functioning. Recognising social distancing the Federation will go online using its web site and online conferencing to share information, make decisions and keep information rolling.
Members already have access to online group project discussion spaces for modern methods of construction and passive fire protection and other areas are being welcomed. A particular challenge, as with all businesses, is management of the annual meeting formally used to gain financial approvals and elections and again action is underway to keep operating.
Illustrating this continuing need to communicate and consider issues it should be noted the first reading of the Fire Safety Bill occurred on the 19 March 2020 and work is just starting within a new BSI project aimed at producing a suite of documents to support government policy and respond to industry and consumer need on Competency and Building Safety.
The Federation will continue to work to contribute to national fire safety.
