The Fire Sector Confederation’s International Reach
The Fire Sector Confederation acts as the National Committee for the Comité Technique International de prévention et d’extinction de Feu (CTIF), a non-profit, apolitical international association of fire and rescue services established in Paris on 16 August 1900, with the UK among its 13 founding nations. The Confederation supports CTIF’s mission to promote global collaboration and knowledge sharing among fire services, participating in its Delegates Assembly, the organisation’s primary decision-making body, and engaging in various Commissions and Working Groups. Representing 40 member countries and 50 organisations, CTIF connects 5 million firefighters and maintains partnerships with bodies such as the International Atomic Energy Agency, National Fire Protection Association, and the European Commission, contributing to global fire safety standards, civil response mechanisms, and research initiatives like the World Fire Statistics and the “100 Cities – 100 Years” project.
