The Learning From Events Knowledge Network works to improve fire safety by sharing lessons from real incidents and near misses. In partnership with CROSS (Confidential Reporting on Structural Safety), the group analyses data from fires to inform insights that can be shared across the sector. By learning from what has gone wrong in the past, the network helps raise awareness, spread good practice, and prevent future tragedies.

Fire Safety in Healthcare

The network brings together fire safety practitioners, estates professionals, and regulators from across healthcare to share expertise, interpret complex guidance, and develop good practice for keeping hospitals and care facilities fire-safe. It provides a collaborative forum for discussing challenges such as evacuation of dependent patients, regulatory compliance, compartmentation, and ageing infrastructure, while offering training, peer support, incident learning, and a collective voice on policy and standards within the health and care estate.

Fire Research

This network that unites researchers, industry specialists, professional bodies, fire and rescue services, government partners, funders, and construction-sector organisations to coordinate and strengthen fire-related research and learning across the whole fire safety system. Hosted independently within the Confederation’s neutral, system-wide Fire Chain framework, the network provides a collaborative platform where evidence, operational experience, academic insight, and industry practice are shared; where research needs are identified and prioritised; and where partners collectively generate the knowledge, guidance, and innovation the sector has long lacked but depends on for safer buildings and safer communities.

International Relations
