2. Membership Terms & Conditions
2.1. Eligibility and Benefits
Membership is open to organisations involved in fire safety across the UK, subject to approval by the FSC. Benefits, including access to resources, events, and discounts, are available exclusively to member organisations and their nominated representatives. Benefits cannot be transferred to non-members, subcontractors, or subsidiaries unless explicitly authorised.
2.2. Data Protection
As a holder of membership data, the FSC complies with the UK Data Protection Legislation (including the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR). Members must ensure appropriate security measures to protect any personal data shared with the FSC and comply with applicable data protection laws.
2.3. Online Member Portal
Members may access their information through a secure online portal.
- Access Credentials: Members are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials. Do not share passwords or use easily guessable passwords. The FSC is not liable for unauthorised access resulting from a member’s failure to secure their credentials.
- Security Breaches: Notify the FSC immediately at [email protected] if you suspect a security breach. The FSC will take reasonable steps to address breaches but is not liable for losses arising from unauthorised access, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
2.4. Membership Fees
Membership fees are payable annually in UK £Sterling via credit/debit card or invoice (for approved members). Fees are non-refundable except as outlined in section 2.5. The FSC will notify members of renewal fees at least four weeks before the subscription anniversary. Failure to pay renewal fees may result in suspension of membership benefits.
2.5. Cancellation of Membership
- By Members: Members may cancel their membership by providing written notice to [email protected]. Cancellations received more than eight weeks before the subscription anniversary will receive a full refund of any prepaid fees. Cancellations within eight weeks will incur a 50% charge; cancellations within four weeks are non-refundable.
- By FSC: The FSC reserves the right to cancel or suspend membership for non-compliance with these terms or other FSC policies. No liability will be accepted for losses arising from such cancellations.
3. Event and Training Terms & Conditions
3.1. Booking and Payment
- Bookings for FSC events and training courses must be made via the online booking form.
- FSC members receive discounted rates, applicable only to direct employees of the member organisation. Non-members must pay in full at booking via the secure payment provider (SagePay). Members may opt for invoice payment, due within 30 days or seven days before the event/course, whichever is sooner.
- The FSC does not store or process payment card details. Bookings with declined payments will not be accepted.
- Late payments may be accepted at the FSC’s discretion, but unpaid bookings may result in refused entry or recovery actions for outstanding fees.
- Organisations are responsible for ensuring courses meet delegates’ needs. Special requirements (e.g., accessibility needs) must be communicated at booking, no later than three weeks before the course start date. Late requests may incur additional charges from third-party providers (e.g., exam bodies).
